Celebrating the music of McCoy Tyner & The John Coltrane Quartet.

Vin Scialla's Quartet featuring Benito Gonzalez will perform original music composed and inspired by the exploratory and spiritual works of John Coltrane's Quartet, while revisiting music selections from legendary McCoy Tyner, John Coltrane, Elvin Jones, and Pharoah Sanders albums of the 1960s-1970s and ‘beyond.’ The group features Benito Gonzalez, who was a member of the saxophone legend Pharoah Sanders' group.

Benito Gonzalez, pianist and two times Grammy nominee, is an internationally beloved artist who combines a long lineage of American jazz traditions with rhythms from around the world. Benito Gonzalez is an exhilarating pianist who won the Great America Jazz Piano Competition and was honored in 2020 to be a Steinway & Sons artist for “his sound [that] is recognizable for the powerful rhythm section and Afro-Latin patterns he prioritizes across his projects.” The Venezuela-born, New York-based artist grew up playing traditional Venezuelan folk music with his family before absorbing the inventiveness of such pianists as Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett who inspired him to join in the explorations on the instrument.

Vin Scialla, bandleader and 2026 Jazz Road Tour artist, is re-igniting the jazz-global fusion movement, and performed on a Grammy nominated album. Vin is an American jazz drummer who is a member of Brooklyn Raga Massive and founded Liftoff Music. Vin has played and collaborated with artists such as BRM Celebrating Mahavishnu & Shakti, Snehasish Mozumder, Benito Gonzalez, Premik Russell Tubbs, Mike DiRubbo, Jason Lindner, John T. La Barbera, Liftoff Brass Band, and Brooklyn Raga Massive. He performed at Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors with Snehasish Mozumder, at Symphony Space and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall.
